On Thursday evening, Big Bend National Park received notice of a fatality along the Chimneys Trail. Rangers responded, and a deceased 75-year-old male from Houston was located approximately ½ mile from the trailhead. There was no obvious cause of death.

Things went well yesterday on the South Rim Fire. Diablos cleared the west flank, and Mt. Taylor Hotshots made progress in the Pinnacles area. Fire did not enter the Basin. Active burning continues in lower Boot Canyon and the Toll Mtn. area. Current fire area is 785 acres. https://t.co/NQYgZEgIsN
